Pulled glass, rayon embroidery thread, water soluble stabilzer
Did I ever mention that I hate weaving?
Aged metal heddles draw blood. Crosses disappear in dye baths. Warp threads slip just when you need them most. Compared to all that, flying an airplane feels easier—and a lot more fun. And yet, as a fiber artist, people insist I must “make peace” with weaving.
Mission accomplished.
I built this fiber sculpture from pulled blown-glass fibers and knotted rayon threads. It casts long shadows that echo loom patterns, offering a sarcastic tribute to an ancient craft. The piece weaves a homage that winks, winces, and bows all at once.
