Felted wool sweaters

It began as a simple 10″ x 12″ echo drawing around a bobby pin — repeat, expand, repeat — until the pattern took on a life of its own. Years later, after felting and stacking cuttings from family sweaters (some of which I personally knit long ago), the drawing blossomed into a vibrant 5-foot-wide fiber art sculpture full of color, texture, and history.
It makes me smile to look at it. Visitors often say it makes them smile, too. Perhaps that’s because every ring holds a quiet memory of a winter day, a favorite garment, a moment wrapped in warmth. When my daughter first saw it, she exclaimed, “That’s my sweater!” My reply was simple:
“You weren’t using it.”
