Rayon embroidery thread, Tyvek envelopes
Sometimes spirit and strength feel drained—life’s edges fray, and even color seems to fade. Yet, with the smallest pause, something gentle returns: the distant thrum of waves, the salt of ocean air, the whisper of a breeze across the cheek. These quiet reminders show that beauty still exists… and that we, too, can begin again.
I created Renewal as part of the Discarded series, transforming once-forgotten materials into objects of wonder. I shaped a humble Tyvek envelope—rescued from a trash bin—so it curls and ripples under heat, forming the sculptural foundation for layered shades of blue thread. Look closely, and you’ll find echoes of its former life—faint green triangles tucked into its seams—proof that even what is thrown away can rise into something luminous.
