Rayon embroidery thread, Tyvek envelopes

Watching a cast-off object come back to life feels quietly miraculous. I created Refreshing as part of the Discarded series, transforming ordinary Tyvek envelopes into something unexpectedly organic—delicate, light-filled, and strangely alive.

I washed the surfaces in cool greens, tinted them with watercolor, and stitched them with shimmering rayon thread. The textures mimic gentle erosion—like lichen spreading across stone or sunlight dissolving through young leaves. What was once trash now whispers of renewal, simplicity, and those moments in nature when everything feels washed clean and utterly possible again.

Pause with it long enough, and you may feel that subtle exhale—a soft, internal yes—that comes when we remember nature’s quiet power to restore
